Northern Nicoya Peninsula

The northern part of the Nicoya Peninsula belongs to the province of Guanacaste whose coastline is made up of countless stretches of sun-swathed beaches, divided by rocky bluffs and mangrove-lined river estuaries.  The northern Nicoya Peninsula is perfect to visit basically year-round, only October should be avoided as it is usually a wash-out.  Some of Costa Rica's most famous surf and vacation spots are found here.

The towns of northern Nicoya Peninsula are:

  • Tamarindo
  • Playa Grande
  • Junquillal
  • Nicoya
  • Nosara
  • Samara
  • Coyote-Islita

The Riu Resort is a 5-star resort located on the seafront in the beautiful region of Guanacaste, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.  Here is a video of the pool area at the Riu resort, and a video of one of the rooms at the Riu resort.
